I was hoping to do my October favourites as a YouTube video, as I have recorded a few now and I'm really getting into it. However, I can't seem to actually get any videos uploaded due to some epic slowdowns on the YouTube servers. So in the interests of posting my favourites before Christmas, I thought I would do a written post instead.
Here are the products that have been rocking my world this month:
I reviewed this recently, and proclaimed it to be my Holy Grail sunscreen/day moisturiser. Whereas most sunscreens leave me a greasy mess by 10am, this product leaves me nice and matte. Plus it is the best primer I have ever used underneath makeup and gives my foundation an airbrush finish.
Rimmel Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation
This foundation is a consistent performer, keeps my skin more matte than most foundations (can you spot the theme here?) and comes in a great shade range for my pale skin. You can read my first impressions review here and I am still impressed.
Mac Cremesheen + Pearl Lipstick in Sunny in Seoul
I walked into Mac and vaguely proclaimed to the sales assistant that I wanted to buy a lipstick. I was bowled over when she grabbed this one off the shelf, popped it on for me, and my complexion was immediately brightened. This is a light pink, which is vibrant without being too Barbie-esque. It can appear warm or blue toned depending on the light and is totally work appropriate without being boring. This has been in high rotation for a while now.
Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette
Australis Killer Curves Mascara
Goodbye panda eyes! This is a tube mascara, which does not budge or smudge through whatever you throw at it until you wash it off with warm water at the end of the day. All mascaras usually smudge under my eyes, so this is really a great fund for me! It gives length and volume to the lashes without clumping, although you need to work fast as it dries quickly. This is a much better mascara than Australis' other tube offering Voluptulash, which I used up but didn't like the finish of as much.
Olay Regenerist Night Resurfacing Elixir
I debated whether or not to include this as it is a recent purchase, but I am very impressed with what I have seen so far. My Alpha H Liquid Gold has just run out and I saw that this has a BEST rating on Paula's Choice, with 8-10% glycolic acid. AHAs and BHAs are really essential to my skincare routine, and I will be doing a post about this very soon. It is $35 (in Chemist Warehouse) as opposed to $50+ for the Liquid Gold, so I thought I would give it a go. It is working really well as a night serum + moisturiser in one, although dry skins may need an extra night cream on top.
Real Techniques Buffing BrushI bought this brush as part of the Real Techniques Core Collection, and although it is the only decent brush in the collection, it is worth the money on it's own. I also have the Expert Face Brush, but I prefer the Buffing Brush for foundation application. It gives me a full coverage, flawless, airbrushed look no matter which foundation I use with it. What more can I say?
Face of Australia Budge Proof Gel Eyeliner
I hate spending heaps on gel eyeliners, as they always dry up before I have a chance to use them up. This FOA gel eyeliner has a handy dandy brush in the lid, is black as black, and once it sets doesn't budge all day long. At around the $10 mark, you can't go wrong with this!
Make Up Forever Full Cover Concealer
This is another purchase from Sephora, which I was so disappointed with at first although I have no idea why now! After persevering, I was rewarded with a concealer that is full coverage in two layers, and never cakes, clumps or separates on my skin. My only gripe is that the palest shade is a touch too dark, but I can work with it. About to repurchase as the tube feels scarily empty!
